HELP US TO HELP YOU

As you will read in this issue, we have significantly grown the size of the TAPA EMEA Standards Team to support our members and to ensure we continue to improve our Standards offering and grow certifications across our region.

We are working hard to achieve this – but we need your input too.

We are asking as many TAPA EMEA members as possible to take no more than 10 minutes of your time to complete a new online survey to help us understand the tangible benefits TAPA’s Standards bring to your business.

TAPA’s Standards provide the industry with protective measures to help safeguard people, goods, equipment and facilities. Now we want to take this to the next level by gaining a better understanding of how our Standards protect your business and minimise product losses from your supply chains. To achieve this, TAPA EMEA needs insight into your supply chain loss and security information.

I kindly ask you to not only complete the survey but to also forward it to your partner and supplier contacts to ask if they can do the same for their companies. We are looking for feedback from both TAPA EMEA members and non-members from across our region. The more responses we receive, the more meaningful our results will be.

And, of course, all information you provide will be treated anonymously. No company data will be identifiable in any analysis reports we produce. You can access the survey using this link

The survey is live now and will remain open until COB on Friday 16 July 2021. Please give us your support and help TAPA EMEA to help you more.

THE BIGGER PICTURE

Our Dutch members will no doubt already be very aware of the ‘Breakthrough Requested’ report we discuss in this issue. Commissioning the research was a bold initiative by Transport en Logistiek Nederland (TLN) and the Dutch Ministry of Justice and Security, and we applaud their commitment to finding ways to improve transport security and reduce cargo crime for all supply chain stakeholders.

It is an impressive 233-page assessment of transport security and the Dutch language version can be downloaded here

This whole topic of ‘breeding grounds’ for cargo crime is one we have to keep uppermost in our minds. The report highlights some clear commercial decisions companies can take to make employees less susceptible to criminal approaches, and I am sure we can all think of other initiatives that would act as deterrents to cargo crimes. Higher penalties and longer prison terms for those found guilty of these crimes would be a good starting point, as the report says, but the private sector has to think about its role too. I think this will be an interesting topic to debate during our virtual conference in November and welcome any contributions you can make on this subject.

VIRTUAL REALITY

We have now chosen our technology partner for TAPA EMEA’s first virtual conference, which will take place during the week of 8-12 November – and I am confident the event will provide some fantastic opportunities for learning and networking for all our delegates, Premier Partners, sponsors and exhibitors.

Of course, in 2022, we look forward to being able to meet face-to-face once again but I also see great potential for more virtual events as a platform to bring more benefits to our members. In November, we will open up our conference registration to our biggest-ever audience, and we are putting together an agenda that delegates won’t want to miss.

We are also very conscious of providing as many opportunities as possible for members and delegates to engage in live chats, video calls, and to be able to source and download useful, supporting information which can enhance their supply chain resilience programmes. The technology we are using will give us these opportunities. More news to follow…

EXPERT CONTRIBUTORS

At TAPA EMEA, we are always looking to learn from other subject matter experts and to pass on their knowledge and expertise to our members. I know you will all be meeting outstanding experts as you participate in various meetings and events, and I invite you to nominate to us anyone who you think would make an interesting contributor to our Vigilant magazine or who would be a strong addition to our list of conference speakers and panelists in November. Please share any names and contact information using this link

NEW RECRUITS

Please join me in welcoming three more additions to our growing TAPA EMEA team.

Tamara Bially joins us in a part-time role in Germany and brings experience of working in logistics and supply chain businesses. Tamara is supporting Markus Prinz as we continue to increase our training provision for members in EMEA and improve our organisational processes.

I am also delighted to introduce Jurrie Zaat and Hans Sebastiaan Heller (Bas), who will be with us for the next six months as part of their study internships. Jurrie and Bas are studying International Business Studies. During their time with us, Jurrie and Bas will help to enhance the quality of information in our new CRM system, which will play an important part in our account management and membership engagement processes, and be approaching prospective new members in our region to highlight the benefits of joining the TAPA EMEA Family.

LET’S TALK TRAINING

Our training programme, and the number of members joining our courses, are bigger than ever before. We are also making our trainings more automated and flexible, and offering value-added courses such as Driver Training and the new TAPS Remote Virtual Auditing course in response to requests from our members. We can also do more. Talk to us about your training requirements and where you see gaps in the market for us to provide a solution. We are also able to provide in-company training for larger member organisations. Markus Prinz, our Senior Manager Trainings & Standards, is your point of contact at Markus Prinz

THANK YOU!

June 1, 2021, marked my second anniversary as President & CEO of TAPA EMEA. It is a role and a responsibility I am so proud to hold, and it is a privilege to be able to work on a full-time basis with our great team and, of course, our outstanding members. We are on an amazing journey to deliver more benefits to our members, to grow our TAPA EMEA Family, and to develop new solutions that drive the highest levels of supply chain resilience.

I thank you all most sincerely for your fantastic support and trust. Together, we are building a great future for TAPA EMEA.
